they're so precious back then, this is so emotional knowing everything that happened prior it and then what's more to come after. lord, the way broken adults fuckin break children is just beyond impactful.
this is a great example of novels that don't just write awful horrors like r*pe and codependency for the sake of nothing but romanticizing it; the story building is so well-put. the emotional aspects, the scary (the way the author wrote and illustrate ML's character is so fuckin scary for so many reasons) and horrible darkness that it served prior it, then this unfolding and build up of showing a genuinely BROKEN child born in a BROKEN tragedy of a past and family, as opposed to a lousy backstory. really, the art and the plotting is so well-made all in all.
