Maybe it's bcs of the artists art style, so they can't show fully what have beend described in the novel. If you don't mind can I ask if mc in the old body has ever met the emperor before or not?
In the novel, it says he was selected by the emperor personally to enter the imperial palace as a guard. So I would believed he has met the emperor before from a distance perhaps. Whether the emperor has seen him up close or remember his face there is no information on that in the novel.
Oh I thought it's a cliche trope where the emperor actually love him when he's a guard before. So the emperor is just a really good leader then, that's nice to see once in a while
Do you knows what happen to the guard body? Since it is a soul swapping. Like, is his body dead and now have to live in the concubine body or there a chance he go back to his body?
His body has been buried. The concubine soul is gone. And he lives as the concubine for good.

Just finished the novel. The mental visualization I got from reading the novel about the emperor to be more manly with hair all bun up instead of parital hair down. He also look a little on the soft side in the manhwa. On the other hand, I imagine ML to be more attractive and fragile looking based on how they described him in the novel which does not match what I see in the manhwa. Not as soft looking and attractive as I imagine it would be. ML is also not as sickly looking in the manhwa? ML close attendant also quite different from what I imagine in the novel vs what I see in the manhwa. The art is beautiful no doubt but just quite different from what I visualize them to be from the novel. This is just how I feel. Anyhow, everyone visualize the characters differently.
