People are not perfect; there is no such thing..

I read this years ago and came back because I missed stories like this. I'm surprised by the many comments saying that this is terrible and that they hate it because of what the Male Lead (ML) did. Although nothing excuses cheating, we humans are bound to make mistakes. With that, we can choose between two things: either we learn from it or we run from it.
What I'm trying to point out is that I hate how you wanted the two of them to be a perfect couple when there is no such thing. That's what makes this story realistic and hit close to heart. They were soulmates; they even signed another contract when they were reborn. Instead of seeing their story as only the problems they faced and pinpointing that as the highlight of the story, we should look at the bigger picture.
He forgave him that easily because he was still in love with him all those years and because he understood that Akira tends to worry a lot. As he said, everything will be fine as long as they're together. I'm glad what happened did happen, because otherwise, they would have been stuck in a loop of always hiding and being afraid of what society thinks. This is based in Japan, mind you. What Akira felt was validated and forgiven by Nishi. So, why can't you?
This is what love can do: to accept one's flaws and move forward.
