just binged this in 3 days

the scammiest of scams, scummiest of scum, and sluttiest of sluts... our manipulative, mansplaining manwhore lee kiyoung really has it all (the k in kiyoung stands for Kbabygirl) and when those don't work... Manslaughter it is.

anyw i had to read the comments before starting this and it helped SO MUCH that ppl were saying "i don't usually like harem but‐" because GOD YES at first it was so hard to read cuz he's manipulative and i love women yk but it's so funny how he goes from 'womanizing bastard' to 'most passed around omega in lindel' cuz that waist Literally keeps getting snatched

i'm so glad i read this when i could binge over a hundred chapters of chara development, plot and progression because GOODNESS kiyoung is the type of guy whose chara development becomes THE SLOWEST BURN spanning likely the entire series. had i read this any earlier, i'd have dropped it purely from the sheer amount of second-hand shame and guilt, believing he'd never change. i saw redditors saying similar things abt dropping the manhwa, too and it's obv different for novel readers but i really am glad i stuck it out cuz binging this was a whirlwind of emotions (had to pause around chap 100 to check out rim/hsky on ao3 and see how worth it is to keep going based off of how popular + quality of fics in the tag were)

there's so much to say about the art though because the memes are CONSISTENT i love the references, all according to keikaku has prolly been overdone but i still lmfao each time it pops up. BUT i will say that the constant art style change isn't landing with me, not that i'd stop reading nor rate this lower than 5 stars for it but i miss how much more babygirl kiyoung looked in earlier chapters. i prefer his side bangs not completely hiding his eye and show much more... cunty he looked idk how to explain it but for reference, the flashback to maid femboy kiyoung was cunty art style, but kiyeon... this new style and kiyeon feel too soft; there's so much more detail now but i'd rather get less detailed backgrounds than bubblier art esp with the tone of the story. this is My opinion at least, but regardless kiyoung will always be babygirl and the chaos and fun shines through the artists' hard work.

NOW yes obv i'm one of the readers who are here for hsky and ik there's a lot of mentions within the manhwa itself of how rim isn't a bl but considering this latest chapter, i just want to say i feel like it's a huge missed opportunity for this to not be a MIXED GENDER harem. i'm used to bl/lgbt+ elements being treated as little snippets of fanservice or comic relief but with kiyoung's trait, temptation of a liar... i think it's such a waste that the closest and ONLY chara we have to a male 'love interest' is hyunsung. i'm hsky otp all the way (2nd is hayan, 3rd jihye) but since we've already leaned into kiyoung OBLITERATING fragile masculinity, i feel like there'd be so many more flavors that could've been added to the already delicious hotpot of 'romance' that is rim.

(also it just Lowkey(?) feels like a major plothole that attracting dangerous people actually means 99% women and 1% men that's actually just hyunsung and onion nerd who i hope we get more of bc i'm SO THIRSTY for more info on kiyoung and his sister's life on earth.

i won't forget that one panel of them as kids hiding while listening in on adults (relatives?) saying how creepy or scary they are for something they apparently did. so far i'm assuming they were orphaned at a young age, passed around relatives and when they started living on their own together they were still struggling until kiyoung was sent to the tutorial. i need his real sister to be plot relevant so we all find out how he became so utilitarian and in denial of how he cares about people beyond how they benefit him.

this is getting so long ARGHEVSBD just. It's worth the read even with the internal cringe and the second-hand embarrassment and the guilt-tripping. kiyoung is SO AWFUL but it's a great reminder that people like him really do exist irl. he's not actually the worst of his kind (bro draws the line at trafficking at least idk) but i hope that the premise they're running with is that people like him deserve second chances– that circumstance DOES define people to an extent just as fate does, but that people aren't... unchangeable. besides, kiyoung's first life was defined by his loved ones' misfortune– proof that his affection and emotions do sway his decisions. this time, it took a while but eventually his thinking changed from 'it'll keep me safe' to 'it'll keep me and the continent safe' and, the moment that made me proudest: when he felt TRUE SHAME and said how shitty of a person he must be when he caught himself deliberating surrending and sucking up to jin chung, leaving everyone for dead; he DIDN'T do it, he caught himself in the middle of the thought, TOLD HIMSELF that it was the shittiest move he could possibly make regardless of his first priority being his safety.

progress is slow but man, they were right when they said little things like this meant so much back in charlia arc LMFAO

anyway they're foreshadowing hsky's huge crashout when they find out how many things they've been 'keeping' from each other and i'm honestly a little scared cuz of their inherently toxic relationship imbalance (hyunsung physically strong but treasures kiyoung, kiyoung MANIPULATIVE but treasures(?) hyunsung) because there's so many things they hid and lied about and each one carries SO many implications about how they see each other. we know how kiyoung's starting to grow softer on everyone including hyunsung and that's why i'm hoping he'll come clean when things blow up so they can stay together, but...

we know hyunsung's suspicious, we know he's anxious and traumatized but he treasures kiyoung so so much and this WILL have him fall apart. kiyoung doubling down might break him further, or worse, hyunsung could go on an emotionally-driven rampage.

they're so unpredictable right now but all i'm saying is kiyoung has ALL THE POWER to keep hyunsung together, his words and actions when he finds out will absolutely make or break everything from their relationship to the continent.

wow so much for 'i gotta cut this short.' ok fr now though, with all this drama i feel like we should really have a psychological tag on rim
