tbh i probably wouldn't myself? i am someone who is a scaredy cat, who would think "what if that person has a knife on them"- which they probably did. Like yeah in a way i get why he would do that but still inflicting violence in stressful situations is something that makes me question one's reflexes and whether or not they are always violent when under stress

Because you weren't in this situation. I am someone strongly anti violence, anti gun etc. BUT one night someone followed me home and I KNEW hé was after me (we're ten in my village. I know everyone, not him, and nobody just follow someone to their house in silence at 3 a.m if they want them any good).
My réaction was to scream and run to him making scary noises. That made him flew and police found him next day with a knife suffering from overdose.
He was a pitiful one but if i didn't used violence, i might would have been found dead.
i know he is stressed about the whole situation but snatching someone and smashing them onto a wall is not a good move, like it doesn't look good-if he wanted to know who follows him he could have just peaked at them or sth idk I don't like this type of behavior
