Dude had to have his reasons for leaving and by the looks of it, he didn’t want to leave. In my extremely rational brain, dude most likely was living in korea illegally, had no insurance/the healthcare in the village or in the surrounding areas was too expensive and/or really old to either diagnose him and/or treat him so he had no choice but to go back.
I called it in the last chapter. The guy went back for treatment and knowing the American healthcare system, was most likely working his butt to pay off his debts and return to Korea. He's lucky it only took 35yrs
