(apparently) unpopular opinion but I actually like the MC. She's a bit selfish and is neither a genius villainess nor a pure wallflower. It makes sense for her to be so attached to the ML since he was one of the first people she met and takes great care of her. In the recent chapters you can also see how her character develops and she learns from her mistakes. She's not perfect but she tries her best to be good to people. To me she feels relatable and human, because of her flaws.
The same goes for the ML. I really appreciate how he's not the stereotypical aloof dark emperor. He acknowledges his own feelings and seems to be emotionally immature, which makes me think he ascended the throne at a young age and while he can be a good ruler, this is his first time experiencing this personal closeness with someone.
All of the characters in this seem to be in their twenties at most, based on their characterisation, and still figuring shit out (I cannot remember if we got their actual ages). This makes them already so much more likeable to me than some characters in other manhwa.
Currently Abel is my favourite. He's the hilarious voice of reason needed in these troubling times.
Anyways, that doesn't mean this story is perfect. It is super fast paced, has some writing flaws (imo) and isn't that original. But it's also not as bad as some comments make it seem. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
