To me it's because author used her being westerner as an excuse for her to be the "crazy girlfriend" stereotype... the kind that throws herself and hits on mc every possible time and keeps acting as his jealous girlfriend even tho they are not together and keeps making mc uncomfortable until he gives up and accepts her. Basically the kind that if genders were opposed would be hated by all readers as the guy that can't take a hint and fck off... the sub-lead/villain that keeps pestering mc all the time. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
