i think it makes sense since (assuming) both were straight in the beginning. the relationship has just started and it's something new to them (same sex couple) so it's understandable if they wanna be in the closet for a little longer until they're comfortable with it. or maybe the author is writing in a setting where gay people are not accepted

I'm not from America but been seeing updates. its quickly turning into a regressive and honestly, facist country. There's so much ppl who are vitriolic against minorities, including lgbtqa+ ppl, so it still checks out if being afraid of getting harassed by homophobes is their reason for not coming out.

No, no, no, you guys are not getting it at all. It's not because in the United States they are not okay with LGBTQ, or it's becoming regressive, or anything. It doesn't have to do anything with that. If you read, like, a couple of the last chapters, you will understand that Luke is aiming to become an actor, right? That means he wants to be a public figure. And Andrew, you know, coming from a dad who has been at some point somewhat of a celebrity, a mayor or something, I don't remember. Anyway, he knows that it's better for you to not flag yourself as being gay or something, or anything that would demise your chances of being picked . So he asked Luke to be a little bit more careful about their relationship so it wouldn't interfere with his life, with their chances.
Ok i have a question. Why can’t they be open about their relationships? Are they not in America? Or is it because luke and andrew both were straight before so it’s for them to come out now?
