Well I just read this scene in the novel and it was so much better. He didn't kiss her solely because he wanted. They even explain how they really fell and why they broke nothing, because from a fall that steep, they would've at least broken a few bones, if not died.
This is the link to the novel from the point she was being chased by him and then they both fell. If you want to read the specific part about the kiss, it's around chapter 68.1, but I'd recommend reading from the point I mentioned since it explains why he kissed her in the first place.
