Horrible acting skills and barely restraining her actual emotions.
She was probably at the "peak of her career" because she has a beautiful face and was young at the time before the sudden retirement - so the audience would remember her with a good good impression. Probably acted decently, but only a type of character and was typecasted. If she kept going people would get bored of her and realise she's not talented. She would fall off.
Old ginger is spicier, yet this woman is incredibly shortsighted and impulsive. Even if Hajin is not her son, by the public's pov, she was the one who raised him - any of his scandals is a reflection of her failure in raising him the right path. If she outright says she didn't raise him and it was the father, "what a cold woman, the child may be a product of the father's sin, but the child itself is innocent, you should still take some responsibility to raise the child."
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. So it's just better off that Hajin has a clean reputation.
