Yeah, same thioughts here. It's hard to believe him when he says he doesn't know why she "hated" him (more like, not really even "why she hated him", but rather "why she didn't overjoyed, worshipping the ground he walked on, every time he appeared before her"... this egocentric ass...) I mean, there's no way he wouldn't have suspected it could be due to his cold attitude, not to mention his overt refusal to have a child with her, his lack of effort to either set her straight or atone for his alleged extramarital affrairs, his failure to notice or reign on his servants' and acquaintances' disrespect of her, his failure to let her have at least an ounce of control over her own life, and his insistence on keeping a dog near him at all times, minimizing the extent to which the darn pet terrified her (like seriously, did you REALLY need to ALSO make your wife feel like you loved a darn animal more than you loved her?). It's to the point we should hope he NEVER gets to have a child of his own blood, with ANYONE... bc THAT level of stupidity should be ended with him, rather than passed on to any descendants.
are they really that dumb? how low of an eq are they? how did they reach adulthood with the emotional intelligence of a peanut? do they even exist irl? i never understand the thinking process behind acting cold even tho you like them.. like doesnt it make more sense to act like you like them even tho you fuckin hate them for when you need to proceed with your plan or smthing.
