this story is so good because you think the author wouldn’t go there and they sure as hell do they don’t hold back and show the rawness of pain so vividly - the fact that both yeonjo and heeryang are a result of their environment and all their suffering is directly due to the greed of privelaged people, and how it completely ruined them ;-; i think yeonjo fell for him because at heart heeryang still has the essence of who he was as a child, yeonjo has spent so much time with him that he sees through the ruthless facade and sees the humanity and love heeryang once carried as a child. but reality is that he is no longer just a person, he truly is a murderer that has committed too many unforgivable crimes - i love how the author shows that yeonjo’s love for him is unacceptable and not righteous at all, its so sad because we see how loving they were toward eachother and how human they become around each other. but that can’t be. the very fact that they feel these gentle, pure feelings for each is rancid and poisonous and violent. it’s just so heartbreaking things didn’t have to be this way…. but they are, and nothing could have stopped it. if heeryang didn’t abandon his humanity and become violence incarnate, he wouldn’t have survived this life. heeryang ruining yeonjo’s life was inevitable, and yeonjo falling in love with the man who murdered his family and stripped him of his dignity and freedom, was also inevitable.
