Because it allows you to see how the ml will react. A toxic ml.... sees a damsel in distress...he can either choose to ignore or help. If he ignores, the feelings aren't there. If hes saves him but makes uke feel shit about it...he has feelings but hes an asshole and doesn't know how to show he cares....thats what think. I think the best outcomes is always if the uke fights saves himself without seme's help
