You can easily loose pictures over a 2 year gap
I always lived in an organized household, never lost a photo. I don't think is something normal to lost, but ok ╮(￣▽￣)╭
You could write a note or a diary about her or something... you could have saved a picture to remember? Even if you didn't want to go back because of the disease, you could still remember someone that you once loved that way, but I don't know, my opinion...
