It is indeed an omegaverse story, and in many such stories, the mom is also a man, yes ! The mom is an omega man. it is possible that the language of origin (korean) doesn't use pronouns the same way than in English ? (Not 100% sure about that.) So it's possible the translator had to make a choice, or sometimes instead of making a definite choice is using either '' she/her" and sometimes '' him/his '' depending on the sentence, if using '' mom '' the translator is using '' she/her '' here ?
In omegaverse context, hye sung and dojin's relationship is practically a hetero rs. I don't think it's really that weird that he calls him "her" or "she" as he grew up calling him mom
