Hyesung’s situation with getting pregnant with Byul isn’t the same as his mom’s situation with him because Hyesung didn’t want to keep the pregnancy in the first place and only did under the agreement with Dojin that he would be a surrogate for him. They’d agreed that Hyesung would have Byul and Dojin would raise him. Eventually he changed his mind, but those were the terms.
I re-read Love is an Illusion side story 2 (25) onwards to refresh my memory and whoa, Hyesung and his mom's lives are quite tragic. They lived a miserable life and made bad life choices. Hyesung said his dad abused his mom and him so she left. His abusive dad said the reason she truly left was because of Hyesung but he's an abuser so idgaf about his words. His mom later clarified that she left because she found a new man and didn't wanna go back to her abuser because she was with child at the time. She later went back for a divorce and it seems she wanted to see Hyesung but backed off because the abusive dad told her Hyesung didn't want to see her. She could have, however, brought Hyesung with her when she escaped tbh. I don't know why she didn't in the first place. But honestly the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, because didn't Hyesung himself left Byul with Dojin whom he barely knew? Tbh I just feel so sorry for both of them and I am glad that Hyesung is clearly in a better place. I hope Dojin has a good explanation though as to why he disregarded Hyesung's choice to stay away from his mom.
