Yes I agree that she should question what he telling her and not just allow herself to be manipulated like that, but at the same time she just believes this is her only option. I feel like when you're desperate enough you'll really believe and fall for anything without questioning or thinking twice. Hopefully we see some developments in her overall character but let's not blame her and blame the actual villain in the story. Plus the "lover" isn't even trying to find a way to leave he's just leaving everything up to her to figure out all while he's manipulating her too.
