Not sure how well the dye business was going, but considering how the water bill went up, it wasn’t a bad idea to start a new business to pay it off (or add on to that water bill lol).
Although I'm curious if the dye business also had workers in the conditions he gave for the wine business, or he's that desperate/greedy/influenced to make money that ruined it.
I still have some hope for his son to change. He's gonna be inheriting that debt, and he's young, so he could still turn for the better.
I'd like to headcannon that since he's familiar with Lloyd, watched him stop a fight that he started (stopped the abuse of nobility powers and stole his villagers), he could try again with the wine business with fairer working conditions.
