i think its a bit complicated
i dont think asha ever wanted to treat albert as arden, to the point that he felt ashamed he saw arden in him and lied to albert about the knife. Like he obv got reminded of arden, and it makes sense since albert quite literally IS arden in a way, but at the same time he's also different.
i think asha deciding to turn albert is the ultimate symbol of albert becoming his own person in asha's heart, since asha wouldn't have ,and in the past didnt, turn arden.
i think also the fact that in his mind asha has arden advise him about albert instead of superimposing him on albert shows he ultimately isnt treating them as the same person despite the similarities

....................i can't be the only one who thinks asha just doesn't love albert right. he loves arden. that scene at the end where asha's talking to arden's ghost (or his own subconscious judging by the author note but that seems like total bull tbh) and it's like "ur just scared to love again but it's okay to let me go" is crazy bc like...........that's not what's happening here. he doesn't see albert as his own person. he sees albert as arden. like there's multiple scenes where that's explicitly said and there's no reason to think otherwise at any point
