He dies and they fly away, yes after mc tries to save him with the horn but it seemingly fails. At this stage and for chapters after I genuinely thought we were in a dead emperor epilogue. I think this is kind of failing to give the same gravitas to the moment.
Then we go to his life away from the Emperor. The chasing arc is still to come and it is a gentle persistent chase where he actually shows restraint and that he's actually trying to be a better person for mc. For a psychopath with no emotions it's something right?
Also mc never stops feeling guilty for liking the Emperor back. He will have nightmares forever more about his mother and his guilt.
My personal take is that having someone so powerful want you so strongly, might make anyone 'fall' if you get what I'm saying. People in the real world are into serial killers etc it's wild but it happens.
