Uncle's type is really unexpected.

hmmm just a speculation, but me think, she was originally currying favour from claude because he was originally said to have more potential than his brother, which was what caused the inferior complex. and then whne the first emperor possessed his brother, his brithe naturally showed more potential because a literal former emperor is possessing him. so she moved onto his brother instead? maybe this is just wishful thinking but i’d like to think that she also slowly gain feelings for his brother since it seems like she had no problem showing her true self to him compared to claude. but of course just a wishful thinking

I thought she was set to marry Claude due to family matters like a set up marriage, but she realized that Claude lacked power but also resolve to steal the crown. She had to find some way to get power so she seduced uncle so he would fall for her/bed her. In the scene where Claud find the in the bed together, he didn’t seem as hurt by her cheating but by the collective betrayal from his brother as well and mostly. He thought they had a good relationship up till uncle felt inferior (turns out it was evil spirit) and it went down hill. In Claude’s eyes his brother stole her away bc he wanted what was his and in reality while that was true SH came to him first seducing him. I think he realized the kind of person she was and didn’t feel much deviation bc they were actually in love it was a political marriage. That’s when he met a thus mom (a commoner from another country who dances) and they fell in love and she got pregnant. They were happy till they realized it was gonna kill her to have athy. He was truly hurt by her death not so much by Jen’s mom bc he didn’t truly love her. I think the fact that Jen was brought back to life by black magic means she died too but was brought back so she could potentially be used as a vessel or a way to infiltrate the castle (by Carax) but deep down in uncles soul he loved Jen very much bc he loved her mom very much. He acknowledged she was a gold digging snot but he still saw her vulnerabilities and her good and actually loved her. I’m not sure if she loved him or if she loved Claude even a little bc Claude and her never slept tg so I’m thinking she didn’t like Claude she just wanted power. I think if we get to know her in the next chapters for Jen to see her in his memories we will see how they interacted with eachother but I think Jen’s mom and dad actually loved eachother even if they never got to fully understand it and explore it deeper and I say this bc of his memory of her smiling at him while they’re in bed it feels romantic. I don’t think she loved Claude at all I think she was with him strictly for power and she realized Claude didn’t want the throne so her target shifted. And ultimately within her way of securing her place and getting pregnant with Jen she must have fallen in love. It looks like they went out on dates and stuff in his memories, she had to have caught feelings for him. This is just my take on it after rereading tho

tbh it’s probably the case that both of them do love each ither but never really realised it since both are blinded by their own goals and ambitions

But the Claude's brother was already possessed as a child. There was a memory of Claude where he's brother began acting weird some point later during their childhood. So if His brother was showing potential because he was possessed by an Emperor it would have been earlier than when she began targeting Claude. Claude's memories of her which showed that he was already can adult/teen when he met her. Don't know if I remember correctly though...

I think your explanation is more possible, she may have tried to get Claude first becuz he had more potential in magic for being a stronger than the previous Emperor. But after finding out that Claude had no greed for the throne (prior to trying to kill his brother) she eventually abandoned her fiance and went straight to the crown prince of that time (which is previous emperor/uncle).Claude's and Athy's pov are limited from one angle, like you mentioned uncle probably didn't try to take Claude's fiance just to steal his things, more likely the fiance willingly went to him first. He was possessed back then, his negativity, inferiority and judgement would have made him more vulnerable to her. Claude wasn't aware of this side of things, so his from his perspective, it would seem like his brother took her first and then she willingly went because of her ambition, not the other way around.

So it's really difficult to tell what her motives and feels are just from the others perspective of her since

It's unlikely that we'd get any pov from her past, since the way the story is told is only by basing on the current living characters perspective. I guess, the whole story wouldn't really go that far for such a minor character, I'm just the kind who likes to delve into details even if their minor.

Me too tho I wanna know more ab her AND more ab Arby’s mom and their relationships with the brother, I also hope Cathy chooses her person in the side stories I wanna know if all
