Here’s the thing, the story is setting up for the mom to redeem herself. If that’s not your cup of tea then I suggest you close the tab. I for one like how complex and flawed she is. As someone who was abused herself, she didn’t know what love was not until her daughter sacrificed herself. She was given a second chance to right her wrongs and even tho she slip back to her old thinking sometimes, her only goal is for Lily to never suffer again. The readers know that what she did in her previous life was wrong, it was inexcusable and unforgivable. But I do empathize with what she went through and what she’s doing now. She’s not a perfect mother, far from it, but I like that she’s redeeming herself FOR her daughter.
