It just seems out of character for a guy who always refused to take a break and thinks everything other than training is a waste of time....also when he said "i'll just wear a t-shirt and call it a day" is also uncharacteristic of JK who is always looking fashionable in brand name clothes. Sure, not full blown suits but even just a button down and a nice watch. How long has it been since he started stalking Dan in the country side? Was it really long enough for him to change so much about himself? Even if he is just doing it for Dan's sake, it doesn't seem like he even asks Dan for his opinion on what he likes or doesn't like or wants to do.
But I guess it's a good way for them to try new things they otherwise would never do on their own.
