the same guy who almost pounced on Dan in the pool while he was supposed to give him swimming lessons? Strong doubt. If it happened, it'd be super duper out of character, if what he's doing now is considered super out of character.

It would be a HUGE character development if Jk respects Dan enough to not use him like usual for the jinx. Like he just goes into the fight as is. Dan insists that they do it so he can be useful, but Jk just turns him down. And he struggles in the ring but he overcomes his jinx somehow, with Dan just genuinely supporting him from the side, without the transactional s*x. That would be PEAK character development. Please. PLEASE
