I know Volume 3 was trying to handle the trauma and abuse in a way that made it clear that both siblings were products of their environment, but giving a free pass for his brother wasn’t something I wanted to see. Their relationship still feels incredibly odd and uncomfortable to watch. I wish the author leaned into the idea of a found family and the freedom of being able to close yourself off from abusers. It would have felt a little more reasonable if Yamato was also getting abused now that Miyabi was gone. But that wasn’t the case. He was just fucking up on his own because he couldn’t be bothered to work any harder. I have no sympathy for him.
