Yh I think that’s the point. To show how his situation forced him to be a monster yet it doesn’t excuse one’s actions
yes it's definitely by design and the author is doing a great job at fleshing out the main characters. It's just confusing (and very realistic) to simultaneously pity someone and feel an immense disdain towards them
Everyone failed ML so, if he didn't rape and ruin MC's life, I would've been on his side despite the fact that he murdered everyone and seized the throne. If this story started with the past timeline and didn't show us the current events, I would've been riding for ML
