I wouldn't reason "forgiveness" as the best end solution. In complex situations, there is arguably more than one way to go about something and find closure for each person involved. For others, that could be the route. For another, understanding, not absolving blame, but moving on instead. That is also closure. I don't favor the implications that if one takes a path suggesting otherwise, it'll end in blameless ruin. When that's not true for those who have walked it. There is no "one way". Just a way you didn't select, see or decide to embark on according to your beliefs and your personal circumstances.
