Unpopular but I disagree with "Byul is the worst and should be abandoned", for me he is a normal kid, who makes mistakes and regrets. I'm pretty sure if Byul has to decide between his father or the grandma, he would pick the dad Hyesung with no doubt.. I wrote it before so I'll paste it here again:
-Byul is in a vulnerable situation where he believes his dreams have failed. Not really, but as a young person, one believes that. His parents have other important obligations, and the only person who can provide support is his grandmother (unfortunately), she may be manipulating him but I'm not sure.
-Byul is a good boy who sees a lonely and abandoned elderly woman with excessive regret. It's normal and human to feel empathy and pity for the elderly, especially if they're sweet and women. Being old and dependable probably suck. I don't think she should be forgiven.
-Hyesung is now happy, supported and loved by everyone. His situation was a long time ago, so Byul doesn't realize that the mistake was serious. He was always loved, so he doesn't know how to measure his mistake.
-Byul was always loved by his mother, so he takes his love for granted. Like most of us, we put our priorities when we are young on other people, our crushes, etc instead of parents.
-In the end, Hyesung should have also informed Byul about the pain his mother's trauma still causes him. Byul knows that his grandma abandoned Hyesung but he doesn't know the abuse his father imposed on him (he just listen his grandma side). It's the adults' responsibility to communicate this too. They prefered to ignore the issue instead of confronting it with Byul . Seeing that Dojin is still talking with the grandma and taking the issue so lighly makes Byul not seeing the whole picture.
-17-year-olds, even adults don't follow their parents' advice and don't think about how bad a situation is. If that were the case, the world would be different. But I don't know any teenager, and I don't believe there are any who have followed their parents' warnings 100% of the time. We all misbehave sometimes, and almost all of us have taken our parents' love for granted, sadly. But with time we learn.
-Byul is misrepresenting something and it is Over-rationalizating the situation "Because I don't blame my father (Hyensung) for abandon me, probably my father doesn't hate his mother (grandma)". Which both situations are different. It is still bad that Byul told hurtful things to Hyesung but we know he regrets it deeply.
-"I'm a teen and I have never or I would never" hmmm Every teen is different. Your mind and reactions are different than every person in the world.
- I don't think Hyesung should forgive the grandma, but that is going to happen, If you are not prepared, better prepare NOW.
-If you really hate Byul with all your heart, wtv, it is normal to get angry at teens, damn, sometimes they are obnoxious and crazy, but I just breath 1 to 100 and hope for the best future for them before I end up with murder charges.
-Finally, BYUL is just being highly emphatethic with a person who doesn't deserve it. He and the cousin girl are acting like normal teenagers, dumb and obnoxious but with room of improvement. I rest my case.
