It shows their "deaths" in the first chapter. One by suicide (supposedly, since you can only see legs hanging) and one by drowning (or he just threw his body into the river). It's not clear because it's the pov of a narrator first, and it just says they died from "unknown" reasons.
And the father just died of old age. (supposedly, again.) lol
