Wow lowkey kinda regretted reading this on a school night where it’s almost 2am for me rn and I’m probably gonna get nightmares about this but they fr left the ending inconclusive and, but in my theory I think the reason sheryle says that at the end is bc the curse or the spell never really left with them considering they’ve been turned back/killed dozens of times over and over to the point it possibly could’ve engraved it to them
but Maude really was just imo horrible both her and the governor like it’s insane to not fucking let go of someone that’s on their death bed a peaceful death to the point of literally accidentally summoning the devil or some shit just to prolong the lady’s death??? Like even she herself has said that they’re already gone too deep with the freaking spell and fr going to the depths of hell for staining their hands with blood over and over again bc she the lady herself has never even asked to be revived or to continue living yet they still did it out of their own selfishness to still be with her
