It’s shows that you can develop a character who presents as naive and childish without making them mentally a child. The mc is intelligent and schemes (tho non malicious) in a way that other characters shown as youthful would not. I believe he will be able to handle the responsibilities of being a head merchant and it doesn’t feel forced. It’s like the author built him off of real people rather than tropes and I appreciate that.
I read a bit of the novel, and you're guess is accurate :) have hope for this series (but I also didn't read too far, sometimes books surprise you with rushed or bad endings, idk about this one I haven't gotten that far)
