You know, after thinking about it, this is exactly why Dohwa absolutely deserves to find a better woman. He needs someone who will see his worth, cherish his loyalty, and love him with the same intensity he's been showing for years. He deserves someone who would never take his devotion for granted. And honestly? That woman is totally me! (●'◡'●)ノ

Ngl, if Sooae was an actual person in my life, I would talk behind her back so BAD, no question. People can call me her hater or whatever they want, but I've never liked that girl, not even from the very first season. What was there to like? Her entire personality was built on two trails: being "kind" and having a "funny" personality. That's it. I genuinely can't think of a single other interesting or redeeming quality to make up for how boring she is.

You'd think, "Hey, it's just the first season, she has so much room to grow!" But that's the most frustrating part. The author had a decade-long time skip, a perfect opportunity to show us a new, mature, and evolved Sooae. But did we get that? No. She is exactly the same person she was in high school. The author tried to dress her up in mature circumstances, but they failed so miserably it's almost painful to watch.

Miss girl is still completely hung up on a man who ghosted her for almost a decade! The desperation she shows for even a crumb of Eunhyuk's attention is just crazy. She had the perfect blueprint for how to act, she could have ignored him, treated him like the stranger he became, or at most, a memory from high school. He was certainly treating her that way! I should have known better than to expect that level of self-respect from her.

And don't even get me started on her so-called "attempts" at setting boundaries. Sure, she tried to act aloof for, like, five minutes, but she just cannot help herself! She's always sticking her nose where it doesn't belong, inserting herself into business that has nothing to do with her. This is a trait that hasn't changed one bit since season one. It's like she learned nothing and forgot nothing. After all the drama, the crying, the chasing, the pretending to be tough, all of that character-building just vanished into thin air. She reset back to zero.

The author is clearly trying to portray her as a complex, layered character, but it's just not working. Instead of coming across as a woman with a rich inner world, she just seems like a "tough" girl with no real backbone, completely unable to move on from a past that is long gone and dead.

And to everyone in the comments trying so hard to defend her and not "dislike the main character," it's okay! I promise, it's okay to hate her! And blaming the author is completely valid, too. Let's be real, a main character often reflects the author's own ideals or self-insert. Many authors adore their protagonists because, in many ways, they are a fictional version of themselves. So the choices Sooae makes, the flaws she has, and the way she's written all stem from what the author finds compelling or relatable.

This is a perfect example of why so many stories sucks. It often feels like you're stuck choosing between two equally frustrating choices.

On one hand, you have the storyline where the Male Lead is pouring his heart out. He's making grand gestures, wearing his heart on his sleeve, and yearning for the Female Lead with every fiber of his being. But the Female Lead remains completely oblivious, blind to his efforts, treating his affection as a minor inconvenience. It's frustrating to watch such one-sided love go unnoticed and unappreciated.

On the other hand, you have the exact opposite problem, which is what we're seeing in this manhwa. The Male Lead, Eunhyuk, is distant, closed-off, and utterly nonchalant. He offers nothing—no explanation, no warmth, no effort. Meanwhile, the Female Lead, Sooae, is left carrying the entire emotional weight of their past relationship all by herself. Her desperation for his attention becomes her primary character trait.

This is what makes her character so difficult to root for. Her value, her moods, and her entire sense of self seem to rise and fall based on the crumbs of attention Eunhyuk decides to throw her way. Instead of being a person with her own goals, dreams, and internal validation, she exists only in relation to a man who has clearly shown he doesn't prioritize her. Her world becomes small, revolving entirely around his indifference, and it completely undermines any potential for her to be a strong and independent character I can like.

Author really need to learn how to write real yearners who yearns for each other.

Anyway, my glorious kind Baek Dohwa, I would love you more than you love that woman and I swear that I can yearns for you better than her.
