I saw a YouTube video talking about a phrase that has stuck with me. That phrase is "cultural uncanny valley" what it means is media represented or told by a country or culture that wasn't raised or familiar with the culture that media is telling. It's like almost American but it's not. Not that I care that it's butchering or doing justice to what living in America is like or wtv western country it's talking about but I can't help but cringe lmfao. It's cute though

    it still can be though, maybe their reference is early 2000's movies. The places, atmosphere, even their clothes have that kind of vibe.

    Agree sometimes it’s distracting but I like seeing korean authors venture outside of what’s familiar to them
