The very first timeline, they were together. But like always the Prince was obsessed with Ines. Won't go over the details, but after reincarnating, the Prince remembered the first life where Carcel and Ines were together and he married Ines instead. That's the second life that Ines initially remembered as her first life.
I think she has one more previous life she's not aware of, it's probably her original life where she and Escalante were actually lovers, i wonder what went wrong with that one ooh shiet!
