i feel like a broken record when i say this, but this story is just that good compared to so many others out there. it’s incredibly realistic and raw. there were so many emotions i felt while reading—anguish, dismay, misery even—and yet i couldn’t put it down. there were also moments of pure joy and elation, and i think i was able to feel all of that because of how beautifully the author wrote this story.

one thing i don’t see many people mention is how well the author captures the main character’s personal growth. we see him go from being hopelessly in love with someone who doesn’t appreciate him to gradually falling in love with someone new—someone he connects with through effort and dedication, not fantasy or what-ifs. i also really liked that we never see his first love move on, because this isn’t his story. this is our main character’s story.

this is a story about what it truly means to love. love isn’t a pure or simple emotion—it’s complicated, messy, and sometimes hard to understand. when you’re in a long-term relationship, it can be difficult to tell if what you’re feeling is love or just comfort. but what really hit me was the idea that love is being unable to be without someone. if you can’t live without them, that’s love. comfort and complacency don’t hold the same weight, and this story captured that so beautifully. i’m so glad it was written the way it was—so honest and so well done.
