I absolutely agree. Like I’ve seen so many people write this and that, saying JJK’s thought process is dumb or annoying. But people really don’t seem to get JJK (apart from him being an asshole ofc). He is literally EMOTIONALLY CONSTIPATED. He doesn’t KNOW how to show love. He has never been loved. Never knew what it was. He is indeed learning, and he finds it difficult to read Dan at all. And No, I’m not at all excusing his behaviour either. Tbh there have been scenes that have been really unsettling, but after all it’s just fiction. So it’s supposed to be angsty, supposed to be tension and JJK is supposed to try learning to love gently, if any at all. It does feel somewhat rushed at this point, though. But then again, it’s like JJK thoughts in this chapter: He feels good because of Dan. Maybe he’s finally letting his guard down. Maybe he’s starting to get tired of keeping all his emotions repressed. Let’s hope he has to grovel for Dan lmfao

I’ve said this before and this chapter just reaffirms this for me. Without excusing any of his past and even present behaviour, JK is really just a kid that had to grow up too fast, has been on survival mode all his life, is TERRIFIED of being poor again and has never had a close connection to anyone, because why would anyone love him when his own parents didn’t? The boy is now only just learning how to process his emotions.
All that aside though things are going a bit too smooth too quickly. Lol I’m still waiting for the part where JK has to work hard for Dan to be with him. I was predicting that JK might confess his feelings but Dan would not believe that JK actually likes him and would turn him down. Then JK would have to grovel etc etc.
