I appreciate that the author committed to a truly villainous ML. It's so dry and boring when a character is coded as bad/evil only through backstory rather than anything the character actually did. However, I also feel like the author has kind of written themselves into a corner. Like, where can this story/relationship go other than suicide? ML is gonna have to free Howoo by sacrificing himself to save his life. No other ending is really feasible or acceptable.
