Inseop is a born psychopath. He had a normal loving family, but because of the way he was born he wasn’t able to appreciate this. His mother saw this in him with the he acted. He killed the caterpillar because it was trying to eat or “take” something he desired; the flower. I think the flower symbolizes what Inseop wants which is love or human emotions. The same can be said for the objects he takes from his victims. The pen his sister had was proof of love from her dad and he wanted this. Even though his dad could get him his own it wouldn’t have been out of love but out of duty. He willingly gave it to his daughter but would need to go get one for his son out of obligation. Inseop killed his own sister to have that object of love. He desired his teacher’s wedding ring because that too was proof of love. The watch, the harmonica, the lighter were all gifts from loved ones and Inseop killed them all to get them. Could he have simply just stolen them? Yes, but Inseop sees these people as nothing but insects that dared to have what he wanted so he needed to get rid of them. The MC too is an object of love. He sees her as a flower, the first thing he truly desired. He wants to keep her all to himself and put her on his pedestal like the rest of his trophies. Only issue is that she’s a human and has other obligations in her life that she “belongs” to like her brother, friend, job, etc… He needs to get rid of all of them so he can keep MC by his side. MC hates praying mantises, we see this in the first chapter when she kills one for harming a caterpillar. She can’t stand those that look down and harm others and slowly that emotion has been bursting out of her because of Inseop’s influence. Inseop is a praying mantis that preys on these caterpillars and slowly MC is starting to look at him like one. This webtoon is definitely going to end with her killing him.
