I watched the movie three times and every time I watched it I have a complex emotions going through me. I sobbed terribly every time thinking about the ending. Despite everything that the movie focused on maquia and her adopted son Ariel dynamics. I felt sorry for Lang. I wished she could have married Lang and lived a happy life. Living near by Ariel and could have visited him occasionally. I understand that being a mother is sometimes letting go of your child to let them live their life independently but that doesn’t mean to abandon them completely only to come see them on their death bed. It’s understandable that being lorph would have been hard for her watching her adopted son growing old and dying eventually but at least she could have continued being mother since Ariel got married to dita and grandmother to his daughter also for lang having a companion who he truly cherished her despite knowing she is a lorph. I think movie didn’t do justice to lang, Deol and mido. Though they played a significant part in their early life. But coming back to helm village after so many years just to say goodbye to her adopted son is just too much. At least she could have paid him visit occasionally instead of cutting them off totally until the last moment is what I think.
