Well if you look at the actual timeline it's only been a year since they met again,so it's not like he waited 11 years to confess. I do think it's pretty common to have those types of ambiguous relationships all over the world, where you have intimacy and everything but you're not actually a couple. Also, it's not like the jealousy thing was the only trigger, it's just that he was waiting for the right situation, he waited months. You also have to consider the type of anxious person Ritsu is, and Takanos' nonchalant attitude towards not defining their relationship. Maybe if Takano insisted even more on officializing their relationship, Ritsu would've confessed earlier. But there were even times when Ritsu was ready to confess and Takano stopped him for whatever reason. Plus, they do act like children because they remind each other of their time in high school and they were emotionally frozen in that time of their lifes because of their experience with each other

Idk, I was a bit disappointed cause first of all- the confession was sooo delayed. They are grown adults but sometimes it feels like they are acting like children. I get it that to some degree it is a cultural thing, but even (adult) Japanese would confess way earlier. From my understanding they would confess even before they get in bed. Ok, that was skipped
And then, what kinda bothered me, is that he needed such a trigger to confess? Like boy, you didn't need to "think it over" you just had to feel like you're losing him. What

I've been following this manga for a very long time now and had high expectations so there's that too. Ofc I'm more critical
