basically, somewhere during the time skip the queen killed the ML’s (blonde) mother and ruined him and joffrey’s relationship, as well as her relationship with joffrey. And then because the queen schemed and stuff, the ML goes to war and proves himself. Joffrey still cares about him but the ML doesn’t (or acts like he doesn’t).

Also sometime during the timeskip Joffrey made a name for himself as a charitable and kind prince because he invested in a lot of bad investments, but because he invested so much they all ended up being successful.

Currently, they’re about to attend the academy and the “main plotline” of the source material is about to start.
