Her family wanted him to marry the mother because the FL is hated by her mother's family especially her grandfather. He treats her like an outcast. Thats why he setup the marriage for the FL's mother when it would have been more apropriate to pair his granddaughter instead.
If he love her he should've married to her Instead of mother now you're just ruining the family
