i’m obviously not an expert, nor do i have any confirmation for this, but i’ve read the mangaka’s other work and i really do think this was one of their earlier pieces — if not their very first. i’m basing that purely on the art style and the timing of certain panels ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ﾉ~ but i def agree. not their best work, but, i think that’s why.
Not awful, just not great, I really like this author but i’ve read much more compelling work by them before. There wasn’t any real substance, and I found the bottoms character to feel very one dimensional and flimsy. Not any real conflict, just kind of ‘meh,’ per usual of the author thought the art is gorgeous, and that saves it.
