Um. You can't seriously believe that Rape and SA are the only way to add "depth" to a story when 90% of time, the rape and SA in the story is SO forced and just brushed under the rug. People don't complain because they saw SA, they complain about how carelessly the writer handles it, not as a plot 'point' that drives the story but as a cheap plot 'device' that does nothing for the story except as a barely disguised fetish.

Eg: Jaekyung from jinx is "toxic, asshole" but there's literally nothing else to him. Most of his actions don't even make sense because he's that one directional.
