Obviously so, in s1, MC doesn't seem like he resents ML much, he just seems guilty, ashamed and shocked.
Moreover, MC cares alot of orders and responsibilities so if he stays w ML, it's considered "out of order" n "weird". He doesn't want ML to be seen like that nor does he himself. And MC has his own problems and responsibilities outside of the palace so he doesn't want to stay there permanently
