Wait wait wait. No. Noooo, he killed the parents?! Next level psycho shit, this ML might be fine, but his head is NOT. He's an actual psychopath. It's a subversion of the stereotype of the usually cold, aloof, killing psychopath cause in this case, we can see what it's like when a psychopath does feel some sort of possessiveness or infatuation with someone else; a twisted kind of, dunno if I can call it love, but definitely attachment. It's eerie and in a way, makes sense for someone without remorse or empathy to go to such extreme lengths just to keep and control the subject of his obsession. A methodical, yet impulsive, possessive obsession with someone the ML sees a reflection of his own desire in. The extreme boredom is disrupted by wanting someone, not by that someone himself. I think the ML never truly loved and will never really love the MC, but the feeling of possessiveness and fear (of loss) he creates in him,.and how the MC's helplessness makes him entirely dependent on the ML. On his mercy, his wishes, and his resources. Total submission. It stirs up the stillness of the inner waters.
I love the art style tbh, the fish tank aesthetic with the water makes the scenes even more claustrophobic and suffocating. The ML is basically playing god for the sake of his own egoistic infatuation and satisfaction, and I think the fish caught in a fishtank visual allegory fits the dark, abusive theme a lot. Submerging in water can be also seen as getting in touch with emotions, and the clearer the waters are, the clearer the emotions are felt. The ML feels the strongest when his desire to possess and control is stirred up by the MC, so their scenes together usually involve actual visuals of water and water ripples.
Great, yet scary story. It's dark, it's hot, and it feels aware of its own twistedness (doesn't seem to try and present the messed up dynamic as romantic, on the contrary). I like it more than I expected!
