During the 2000s they were inescapable, you either had to accept your yaoi having proportions like this or stop reading yaoi at all after you've finished all the works of the 4-5 artists that have more normal proportions. These were the only two options you had.

Meanwhile, when looking at the yaoi made during the 2020s, it's significantly easier to stumble across yaoi with no height gap at all than come across proportions like these, even if they become more and more common again lately...
