Eclis deserved that apology, but what came after was a firm rejection that was also rightly deserved. Honestly, Eclise and Penelope's ending in the novel was just right for both of them. They got both what they deserved. Just thinking about it makes me wanna laugh.

At the side story, Eclise has no memories. But he saw Penelope by coincidence and he felt something... Well, anyways, he stalked Penelope for a very long time protecting her secretly without her knowing cuz she was often getting herself into trouble. And no... It wasn't because he loved her, he didn't remember anything about her. He was just curious, since she was related to the past he can't remember and he kinda saves her a lot during those times.

During a job (her last one before she was to marry calisto), mc was uncovering ancient relics on a village, one day she kinda went far off on her own looking for something, if I remember correctly. She encounters a monster, Eclise saves her and tells her she wandered into a dangerous zone. And they had a confrontation talk led by MC, which mc ends up firmly rejecting him once again. This time Eclise is Amnesiac, so he has no love feelings for mc... when Penelope asks him to leave her alone and telling him it's none of his business what happens to her, that their relationship was hate with no thank you for helping her, he actually does leave outright no regrets. But... They were still in a place full of monster. Mc choose the wrong place to have this hate talk with him. He leaves her to fend of for herself. She was flabbergasted, she never thought he would really leave her at that moment with no moment to waste and no way to defend herself.
