I've never been one of those people who complains about them not talking because I felt like I was picking up what the author was putting down and I love a good slow burn but this chapter REALLY put everything in perspective for me. Like her ex (forgot his name amen) pushed her self-esteem into the dirt, cheated on her and blamed her for everything single thing that went wrong with his life and left her in debt. She's dirt poor working 3-4 jobs and is just barely able to get by. Add potentially infertile to it plus being plagued by childhood trauma and it's no wonder she thinks everything is terrible and this relationship is hanging on by a thread with hope and prayers that he doesn't get bored or see her as pathetic. Cause how do you even begin to talk about this stuff with your handsome new boyfriend without trauma dumping/sounding pathetic. And yeah Taeha is a rich creeper obssessed with her so he wouldn't care but she doesn't know that either. Like all she sees is a younger gorgeous guy with his whole life ahead of him meanwhile that's adding to her feeling like deadweight and knowing that he could do better. Like omg my shayla is in mental hell and y'all come here every week like why don't they just talk. And yeah tbh Taeha can be a tiny bit more transparent but at end of the day he's a creeper with a creeper family so I don't expect much. maybe if he grew up normal i'd be more annoyed but he has his own stuff to deal with and it's better if he keeps her away from it
